Summer Break

So I have made a goal to not be on the computer this summer, starting tomorrow.

Yeah crazy I know.

But I think that now that the weather is good I should be out enjoying it, my children, and my husband.

I will be checking my email weekly but that is it. I am not allowed on other than that.

So here is a list of the things I will miss this summer being off my computer.

1. Writing my blog and posting pictures for you all to enjoy. ( don't worry when I come back I will surely give a recap)
2. Reading all of your blogs. I enjoy knowing everything that is going on in my family. I feel so much closer to you all. My friends blogs keep me so informed of their lives. Even the "strangers" who are really not strangers but dear friends who I have met on the Internet will be greatly missed. I am gonna miss the laughs from reading your hilarious posts. (you know who you are)

3. My dear face book I will miss you greatly. I love reading status updates, and of course commenting. I also am gonna miss all the games I play with my face book Friends.

*My farms (yes three..My Farm, Farm Town and Farmville) I will not plant anything, luckily the fruit on the trees wont rot.
*My restaurant (it will be closed up and all my Friends that work there will be resting)
*My sweet pet will be lonely, hungry, and dirty without me there to love her
*My Sorority.. We are small but I think I have like over 10 million dollars plus all my yachts and hummers.
*My Mafia... boy do I hope some rival mafia does not steal all my money.
*My souped up, purple and pink Enzo Ferrari that I race all my Friends in.

4. Digital Scrap booking. Yes I love it, my kids love their scrap books. It is my art. But alas it too is on the computer and must be avoided for the summer.
along with this comes missing freebie hunting, challenges, forums, my scraping community, missing weeks of scraping book camp, and speed scraps. I will miss it all but I will be back after the summer with lots of pictures to scrap and will be rejuvenated again.

Well I think that is about it. I think you can see why I need a computer break. I gotta get to my real life and living it. Well at least for the summer.

Kingergarten Graduation...Jerika

So today Jerika Graduated from Kindergarten. I recorded the songs they sang, so cute!!

This song is a song the music teacher wrote about a promise the kids make to be drug free. Jerika was pointing right at me as she made her promise. I had tears running down my face the whole time, I could not wipe them away easily since I did not want to have a bumpy video.

Worried

I am freaking out a bit...

Trenton Doctor called this morning early, waking me from my sleep. She called to tell me the results of some blood work she ran on him at our appointment last Thursday. She was concerned about some lymph nodes in his neck that are protruding, even when he is not sick. She was going to do some blood work anyways since he is a terrible eater to see if if he anemic, so decided to do a full blood work panel just to make sure something wasn't going on.

So when she called this morning I was worried, they usually just send results in the mail, unless there is an abnormality. She started off by telling me the things that were normal, his iron levels looked fine, no lead.

But there was something amis with his red blood cells, his white where also high. The phlebotomist said that she should have a hematologist look at his blood as which she did and both said that he has Megaloblastic anemia, a deficiency in B12 and folic acid. She said that if left untreated it could cause neurological damage. She said the condition is often hereditary and was there any of this in our family history (Not that I know of)

So she said I would need to bring in Trenton to do more blood work and see the hematologist, she would make a referral.

So there it is. I of course jumped on Wikipedia and looked up

Megaloblastic anemia is an anemia (of macrocytic classification) which results from inhibition of DNA synthesis in red blood cell production.^[1] This is often due to deficiency of vitamin B₁₂ and/or folic acid. Megaloblastic anemia not due to hypovitaminosis may be caused by antimetabolites which poison DNA production, such as some chemotherapeutic or antimicrobial agents (for example azathioprine or trimethoprim).

It is characterized by many large immature and dysfunctional red blood cells (megaloblasts) in the bone marrow,^[2] and also by hypersegmented or multisegmented neutrophils.

Freaking me out a bit. Oh well, hopefully it is easily treated and all will be well. So his eating is probably the cause. If I could just get him to eat, meat, or veggies. Ugh.

Here is what one site said under Megaloblastic diet...People who are strict vegetarians and, most particularly, people who do not consume eggs, milk, or meat can develop Cbl deficiency. Counsel these people to either change their dietary habits or remain on supplementary vitamin B-12 therapy for their lifetime. An oral tablet of 100-200 mcg taken weekly should provide adequate therapy.

I looked up foods high in B12 and Folic acid and am going to see if I can get him to eat them. I made split pea soup for dinner, it is in the crock pot. We will see if he will eat it.

So Trenton is Talking (I guess that is what you would call it) but I wanted to capture my favorite things he is saying before it changes and I forget it.


So...

Trenton says "Waahpee", for water. When he wants a drink he will repeat over and over Waahpee. What is up with that, you ask? Well it is actually adorable because he is saying "water please." See my girls always say "water please" at the table when they want some, and he thinks that the word for water is water please. Cute huh? He also says "ayne oooh (thank you) after he gets his water. My girls have taught him manners and he does not even know it.

Trenton also says "I do, I do, I do" over and over when he wants something, in a really high pitched voice. It is because I will ask the kids, "who wants ______" (insert anything you offer a kid) and they yell "I do." This has led Trenton to believe that "I do" is how you ask for something. Funny, cute and a bit annoying when he is screaming it in that high pitched voice and you are trying to figure out what he is asking for.

Arancini

Arancini, pronounced Ah-ran-chee-nee, I was a wonderful street food that I often ate in Sicily where I served my mission.
I was thinking about it yesterday and decided that I was going to make it with my kids.
I made a yummy risotto, as you have to use rice/risotto in the recipe. We had that for dinner then we had much more so that we could make our Arancini.

It was so fun putting the Arancini together with my kids. They kept calling it a craft you can eat. Here are some pictures of the finished product. They were so good that the Trenton even ate one.

Shocker since he hates to eat, still he ate one, well half of one at least. Don't worry my other girls finished off the rest as soon as he put it down. What a fun Friday afternoon activity. Messy, Messy fun.

Picky Eater

I am sure anyone who reads my blog knows that I am talking about my son Trenton. He continues to have eating issues. He is a crazy man when it comes to eating food.

Today was no exception. He has been a crazy one today. He is starving but I have no idea what he wants. At breakfast he said pancakes, yes he actually said the word, so I made him some, even put chocolate chips in them, but would he eat them, no way. He seemed fine until I cut it for him, then all h.e.double hockey sticks broke out. He was screaming and throwing his plate and all things tantrum like. I knew he was hungry, but what to do.

After awhile of Jennedy explaining that his screaming was hurting her ears, I carted him off to his crib to "cry it out" in peace.

As soon as he was done, I got him out of bed and begged him to show me what he really wanted to eat. He got a bowl and I went through every freaking box of cereal we own, he finally settled on honey bunches of oats, thank heavens. I then proceeded to feed him, he calmed down and all was well. Victory!!!!

I don't get it....the kid will put crazy things in his mouth from Polly pocket accessories to red sharpie pens, he will eat a crayon, or play dough, rocks, sand, hair rubber bands, and even random fuzz of the carpet, but food, NO WAY
Here he is after drawing on both legs then arms and eating the tip off of the red sharpie yesterday. Little stinker.

Still I cant get him to try lunch meat, or any meat for that matter. He wont even let it go near his mouth. The only vegetable that he will let go near his mouth is a pickle. Troubling to say the least

So Trenton just woke up from his nap starving. I was going insane from the screaming and yelling of eat eat eat.(new word, hooray!) We explored the kitchen, he has no idea what he wants. I was frustrated to say the least. So I shut him down stairs and decided I was going to assemble everything that he has been know in the past to eat and let him choose. Waaallaa.


He got his own horderve tray. Yes I suspect he is spoiled. But I cant let him starve. Now at least he has stopped screaming and he can eat to his hearts delight all his favorite treats.

apples (I hid chocolate chips underneath) He found those fast and he ate them up
pickles (his veggie of choice)

Nips
English muffins with butter (cut in half)
Cheese
Craizens
and Graham Crackers
There you have it. Yummy for him.

Hot Hot Hot

So the last few days have been blazing hot. So we set up our little pool. Now it is not super little or anything, nor is it like you can swim in it really. But it is fun and we put the slide from our play house into it and have a blast.

Now here is the coolest part. We made it hot water!

Yup, we hooked up a hose to the water heater and ran the water into it, we also had the other hose from the outside spicket putting water in. We had to do this cus the water was so hot coming from the water heater.

I never would have done this in the past. But now that we have our solar water heater, the sun is heating it up and it does not cost us a cent so it is exactly the same price as running cold water in. So why not do it right. So I sat in the "hot pool" and my kids played, Joe was inside cooking us dinner.
Trenton was falling and practically drowning every couple of minutes. So it was imperative that I stay in there with him, instead of watching from the sidelines. I kept trying to teach him to close his mouth when he goes under, but it never stuck and he would spit up water upon my rescue and cry and hug, then off he was again happy as a lark, ready to practically drown again in a few minutes.
