Called to Serve

So I got a new calling at church on Sunday. See for the last year I have been the music coordinator for the ward. It has been fun and guess what, they decided not to release me from that they just added another calling. I am so lucky.

What is the calling you ask? Well I am the new nursery leader.

When I told that as my status update on face book, I was surprised how many people think it is a terrible calling, or hard calling, or a even calling where I will get sick all the time. I do not feel that way I must say.

I am thrilled. All of my past callings have been in Activities, Relief society or teaching Gospel Doctrine or the youth. So this is my very first calling with the young ones. I have never even had a primary calling. So I love kids and am stoked to have this calling. I knew the moment I got a call for an interview that this was going to be my calling. I told my husband I was getting a calling in nursery and he said, "you have to say NO. You are with kids every day all day and don't need to do that at church too."

I don't feel that way in fact, I love kids, especially that age (OK every age) but I love them all. I have Jennedy who is in the Nursery for another year, Trenton will be coming in next month, and Tyler 8 months from then. So I will have three of my children in there at by the end of the year. I am pretty crazy about my kids and love to be with them so I am excited.

Also we have the most adorable kids in our nursery. There are two sets of twin girls and a bunch of rough and tumble boys, plus my kids. It is a big group true, but hey, that is just more fun.

So I went in this Sunday to get orientated and the Nursery Leader before me had to leave so I got to do it all on my first day and it was super fun. I get to teach and bare my testimony to these little kids who can barely speak English, I get sit on the floor and play with toys and have adorable kids crawling all over me and climbing on my lap. I don't know of any cooler calling. I know you are wishing you were in nursery now huh.

First, we should be friends on Facebook.

And second, you couldn't pay me to be the nursery leader, so they are lucky to have found you!!

You seriously have be one of the best people I know.....I was in nursery for 4 years and I have to say by the end of it I was ready to kill my self! But in my defense I was in primary for 2 yrs before that and all my kids were young at the time....but still it was a calling I did not enjoy. Now I have been in scouts for 2 years.....and I love it!

You are so perfect for the job. As a parent I feel better about leaving Jacob with someone who enjoys being in there rather than someone who does not. The leader he had when he moved here didn't like it and asked to be released after only a few months. His new leader is thrilled to be in there and has made so many positive changes. Jacob LOVES going to nursery and so excited about it that he asks to go to church every day. He has this cute little nursery bag with his name on it and each week he is asked to bring something in his bag that relates to the lesson and he feels so proud to carry his bag and just loves it. For me as a mom I couldn't ask for more and those kids (and parents) are lucky to have you in there now.
